My Teaching Career
I have had the experience of teaching pre-k through high school students and beyond since 2011. In 2013, I began my professional art education path in Chicago, Illinois teaching K-8 students full time at Peterson Elementary. At Peterson, I have been trained in Understanding by Design, and all my units are developed using the National Core Art Standards for Visual Arts. Peterson Elementary gave me an opportunity to collaborate with STEM, Arabic, and classroom teachers to develop and enhance student learning. After 4 amazing years teaching in Chicago, it was time to move on and teach high school students abroad.
Since 2018, I have been teaching 3D Art and Graphic Design. For 2 of those years, I have taught AP 2D Design, AP Drawing, Photography, and Art history. Working abroad has opened up my mind to new perspectives and it has enhanced my teaching. I love working with high school students because they have the ability to create beyond my expectations, and enhance our learning environment with new and interesting perspectives.
