I am a Chicago based artist and teacher known for taking discarded materials and turning them into art. I collect wood, wire, textiles and bike tubes to use in my work. Currently, I am creating clothing from discarded fabric and jewelry from old bike tubes. I create new wearable designs by deconstructing and combining old clothes to give the garment a new modern life. The bike tubes I use are transformed into mock leather arm bands, chokers and necklaces. I like to use bold contrasting colors in the work I create, which is influenced by the Pop Art movement. My motivation is to take the bright colors and boldness of the Pop Art movement and breathe that life into the waste we produce saving materials from landfills.
